Purpose
The Census is preformed every ten years to assure proper

representation in the House of Representatives.

Description
The 1990 Census gathered data on household size and

composition and can be aggregated by geographic units as low

as the Census tract. This data set is the diffinitive source of

information on demographics of the U.S. popualtion.

Special Features
The 1990 Census is thought to have seriously undercounted

children because of new phrasing of questions reguarding

children in the household. Also, data for all Census years are

thought to undercount transients, immigrants, homeless

persons and persons without phones.
